02
Preparation

Complete Initial Testing at Home

Your Location · 1–2 Weeks

Your coordinator provides a detailed pre-visit checklist. Most baseline fertility tests (AMH, baseline ultrasound, semen analysis) can be completed at your local clinic, saving valuable US visit time.

  • AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone)
  • FSH / LH / Estradiol (cycle day 2–3)
  • Antral follicle count ultrasound
  • Semen analysis (if applicable)
  • Hysteroscopy (if needed, can be done in the US)
03
Treatment Planning

Confirm Protocol & Sign Documents

Online · ~1 Week

After your physician reviews your test results, you receive a personalized treatment plan and formal cost quote. All consent forms and medical documents can be signed online — no US trip needed yet.

  • Physician provides personalized protocol
  • Confirm cost breakdown and submit initial payment
  • Medications arranged (Taiwan/HK/US pharmacy)
  • Coordinator helps plan your California visit dates
04
First US Visit (Required)

Stimulation Monitoring & Egg Retrieval

California · ~12–15 days

Most patients arrive 2–4 days into stimulation to reduce time in the US. Alternatively, you may complete early monitoring locally and arrive 2–3 days before retrieval (confirm with your physician if suitable).

  • Regular ultrasound monitoring of follicle growth
  • Egg retrieval procedure (under sedation, ~30 min)
  • Sperm sample collected same day (or frozen sample used)
  • Embryos cultured in laboratory for 5–6 days
  • Await embryo report (blastocyst grading and PGT results)
05
Embryo Transfer

Embryo Transfer

California · ~3–5 days

Fresh transfer: completed 5–6 days after retrieval during the same trip — no additional travel needed. Frozen embryo transfer (FET): embryos are cryopreserved, and transfer is scheduled on a separate trip for added flexibility.

  • Uterine lining preparation (progesterone, estrogen)
  • Transfer procedure (~15 min, no anesthesia needed)
  • Rest 1–2 days, then return home
  • Blood β-HCG pregnancy test 10–12 days post-transfer
06
Post-Treatment Follow-Up

Continued Support Back Home

Your Location · ~8–10 Weeks

Once pregnancy is confirmed, you can safely return home for local prenatal care. HRC provides bilingual (English/Chinese) referral letters, and your coordinator continues WeChat/WhatsApp support through early pregnancy.

  • β-HCG blood test 10–12 days post-transfer
  • Return home after confirmed pregnancy for local OB care
  • HRC provides bilingual referral summary letter
  • Coordinator supports via WeChat/WhatsApp through 12 weeks

Common Questions from International Patients

What visa do I need to come to the US for treatment?
Most patients enter on a B-1/B-2 tourist/business visa for medical purposes. Medical treatment is a legitimate reason for entry — note it on your DS-160 form. If you already have a valid US visa, you can typically enter directly. If you need a new visa, HRC can provide an official Invitation Letter to support your application.
Can I bring my medications or get them in the US?
Many patients complete early-phase medications (BCP, GnRH agonist) before traveling and purchase stimulation injections in the US. US pharmacy prices are often higher than in Asia. Your coordinator will provide detailed guidance on bringing medications into the US and local pharmacy options near your clinic.
How long do I need to rest after egg retrieval? Can I manage alone that day?
Egg retrieval uses IV sedation. You'll rest in the clinic for 1–2 hours afterward and must have someone drive you (no self-driving). Rest at your accommodation that day. Most patients feel well enough to move around by the next day. You can fly home 1–2 days after retrieval — we recommend waiting for your embryo report before booking your return flight.
Do you have accommodation recommendations near HRC clinics?
HRC has clinics across the LA area (Encino, Pasadena, Irvine, etc.). Your coordinator will recommend hotels and serviced apartments within 5–10 minutes of your clinic. Many have kitchens for self-catering, and the surrounding areas have plenty of Asian restaurants and grocery stores.
